Enzyme peeling "Keratoline", do-it-yourself cleansing
Now and then skin needs deeper cleansing, but salon treatments put a real dent in the family budget. An enzyme peel can be done at home, and the gel made by hand. Here is how to make a gentle peel with the active Kerataline.
What goes into the peel
You need 70 g of distilled water, 0.2 g of xanthan gum, 5.5 g of glycerin, 0.75 g of Kerataline, 0.49 g of lactic acid, 0.23 g of papaya oil, 0.07 g of lemon essential oil and 0.1 g of AMINO preservative. More renewal actives are in our peels range.
Step by step
Pour the distilled water into a container and thicken it with the xanthan gum, stirring well. After 10 minutes the gum swells into a thick gel. Add the glycerin: there is a lot of it so the xanthan gel does not dry on the skin but stays a moist film.
Next add Kerataline, the key active. It gently removes dead cells, smooths the skin and supports renewal, working more softly than acid peels. Then add the lactic acid: Kerataline needs an acidic environment, and lactic acid is a mild exfoliant in its own right.
Papaya oil contains papain, the enzyme behind professional enzyme peels, so it boosts the gentle effect. Lemon essential oil adds scent, and AMINO preservative works well at a slightly acidic pH. Mix everything and spoon into a clean jar.
How to use it
Apply twice a week over the whole face, avoiding the eye and lip area. Leave for half an hour to an hour, rinse and follow with a nourishing, soothing mask. For another enzyme recipe, see our mango and papaya enzyme peel.
