AMIGEL rheology guide: Sclerotium Gum in gels emulsions and suspensions
AMIGEL 100 g has INCI Sclerotium Gum and is supplied as a white powder. The listing gives a 0.25–2% range and use across approximately pH 2–11, including electrolyte systems, emulsions, surfactants and suspensions. It is therefore more than a simple clear-gel thickener.
Not a one-for-one xanthan replacement
Sclerotium Gum and xanthan can produce different flow, slip and after-feel. Compare prototypes rather than swapping percentages directly.
Choosing the level
Lower levels can support structure while higher levels create more pronounced gels. Actual viscosity depends on the full formula, including salts, surfactants, oils and other polymers.
Gel-stock workflow
1. Reserve formula water.
2. Pre-disperse the powder when appropriate.
3. Add AMIGEL under adequate mixing.
4. Allow full hydration.
5. Add electrolytes and actives progressively.

6. Track pH and viscosity after each major addition.
Suspensions and emulsions
AMIGEL can support suspended pigments or particles and improve aqueous-phase structure in emulsions, but it does not replace the primary emulsifier. Particle density, yield behavior and storage stability still need testing.
Internal navigation
AMIGEL 100 g suits development and AMIGEL 1 kg ongoing production.
Conclusion
AMIGEL is most useful when rheology must remain controlled in complex systems containing electrolytes, surfactants, oils or suspended solids. Optimize the level in the complete formula.
