Chocolate Handmade
How to make an excellent carcass with your own hands.
Hardly any woman can do without mascara. It frames the eyes and makes the gaze open and expressive. Shop mascaras vary widely in price, quality and how they treat the lashes, but one of the nicest options can be made at home from simple natural ingredients.
Why try homemade mascara
It does not flake under the eyes, has no unnecessary synthetic additives, costs very little and will not dry out the lashes or make them heavy and brittle. Before you start, patch test every ingredient for allergies. Prepare a glass bowl, an old mascara tube washed and disinfected thoroughly, and gloves.
Liquid mascara
Crush two activated charcoal tablets into a powder and mix them with a few drops of aloe juice. Load the brush and apply as usual. Let it dry for a moment, and you will hardly tell it apart from a shop product. Keep it in the fridge for no longer than a week.
Thick mascara
You need two activated charcoal tablets, a few drops of aloe vera and beeswax or coconut oil. Melt the base in a water bath, add the ground charcoal and aloe, and let it cool. This version keeps much longer and holds its texture better.
Vitamin mascara
Mix equal parts vitamin E from a capsule, activated charcoal and an oil of your choice: jojoba, castor or olive. Apply it the usual way while the oils condition your lashes.
Natural mascara comes off just like a regular one, with water or an eye make-up remover. Mascara without wax dries quickly, so make small amounts. If a wax mascara has hardened, hold the tube in warm water for a while. Another tried recipe is in our article on DIY natural mascara.
