Chocolate Handmade
Lip Balm "Cinnamon and Chocolate"
We recently shared a honey and lemon lip balm and explained why ready-made balms are not always ideal. For anyone who loves variety, here is another lovely option: a cinnamon and chocolate lip balm. Try both and see which you prefer.
Choosing the chocolate
A chocolate balm cares for the lips and smells wonderful too. Just try not to eat it. Seriously, though, choose the chocolate carefully, since many bars contain additives. For this recipe use chocolate without extra additives and with at least 70% cocoa. Natural cocoa powder also works well in lip care.
The recipe
Besides chocolate you need petroleum jelly and cinnamon. Melt a few spoonfuls of petroleum jelly in a water bath. Meanwhile, finely grate the chocolate. Add it to the melted jelly and wait until it dissolves completely. Stir in a pinch of ground cinnamon, take it off the heat and mix.
Pour the balm into small jars and leave it in a cool place for a few hours to set. For a more professional texture, try a ready lip balm and lipstick base.
Why you will love it
It does not leave a useless film on the lips like many cheap balms. Nourishing ingredients, a delicious scent and real moisture make it a great way to protect your lips in winter. For a classic version, see our natural handmade lip balm.
