How to make a clock out of disposable tableware
A wall clock can be more than a useful object; it can be a bright accent in your interior. You can even make one from disposable tableware: paper plates, plastic spoons and cups. Such a clock looks unusual and is sure to catch your guests' eye.
What you need
Get a clock mechanism with hands, two paper plates for the base, plastic spoons, a glue gun, acrylic paints and, if you like, glitter or metallic paint.
Sunburst spoon clock
Cut the handles off the spoons, keeping the bowls, and glue them in several rows around the plate like scales, from the rim towards the centre. Paint the piece gold, white or any colour you like. Make a hole in the centre, insert the mechanism and attach the hands.
Coloured cup clock
Cut paper cups into petals, open them out and glue them in a circle to form a flower. Numbers can be drawn or cut from paper. Finish the clock with ribbons from our ribbons and bows section and small decor pieces.
FAQ
Where can I get a clock mechanism?
Craft shops sell them, or you can reuse one from an old clock.
How long will the clock last?
With careful handling, several years.
How can I make it sturdier?
Glue the plates onto a circle of thick card.
