Ayurvedic clover powder - nature fights for the beauty of your skin
Red clover is a familiar sight. It flowers as early as May, promising warm summer days ahead, and often turns up in bunches of wild flowers. It is so common that few people stop to think about its value, yet it has long been prized in traditional beauty care.
Clover flowers and leaves contain vitamins, coumaric and salicylic acids, resins and aromatic oils. The tops, cut at full bloom, are dried and ground into a powder that makes a wonderful cosmetic ingredient for dry skin with fine lines, for fresher looking eyes and for hair care.
Moisturising face mask
Mix a teaspoon of clover powder with a dessert spoon of fresh runny honey and rub it into a smooth paste. Apply a thin layer to the face for 15 to 20 minutes, then rinse with warm running water. The mask moisturises and helps smooth the look of fine lines. Follow it with clover hydrosol as a refreshing toner.
Hair mask
Combine a teaspoon of Ayurvedic clover powder with two egg yolks and mix until smooth. Massage it into the scalp, leave for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse with warm water. You can use it daily for two weeks. After just a few sessions your hair feels better cared for and fewer strands are left on the brush.
Adding it to shampoo and bubble bath
Clover powder can also be stirred into your usual shampoo, one teaspoon per 250 ml, or into bubble bath at the same ratio. More botanical powders are in our Ayurveda section. To round off your body care, try our moisturising body emulsion.
